I have started bullying my new pond. I have a few questions for members. As still undecided on a few things. Any suggestions at this early stage would be helpful.
Is it cost effective to fibreglass the pond myself or go for a box liner?
And where is the best place to get fittings for filters and bottom drain ect.
I am planning for the pond to have above 3000 gallons ish.
Was thinking of getting a nexus filter but not sure which one would be best.
Will be having a skimmer and two returns, one low level and other higher.
Have more questions. But this is all for now.
Looking forward to meeting members when the current situation gets resolved
Won't be long before we are able to visit people ponds on club visits and you will be able to see and get ideas from others.
The more ponds you visit the and talk to the owners the better, they will often say that they wished they had done this or that learn from their wish lists.
Lots of people do fibreglass their own ponds think there are lots of you tube videos of how to do so ,there are also several reliable reasonably priced professionals .
Most people want a drum filter as their first piece of filtration whatever other filtration they have.
Where are you based perhaps local members would allow you to visit their ponds socially distant.
Hi Roger, i had a box welded liner & after several years it split at the welded seem along the bottom side so having had to start again i wasn't going to have that heartache again so i got a professional in & had the new pond fibre glassed. the choice is yours
if you forget your history, you will repeat your mistakes, RoyH
Thanks Tony and the rest for your replies. I would love to call round and visit some of the members ponds. And pick up more ideas. I live in Hull and would willingly travel a bit to visit any members how would be willing to let me look at there ponds and have a chat.
