Any ideas to reduce the alagae build up on the pond wall and bottom. It's not major, the water is clear, water quality is good...I've reduced feeding and on wheatgerm. 10 deg C.
The small algae particles are missed by my sieve and end up in my 320..so I'm cleaning every 3 or 4 days.
Oh salt level is 0.1, could raise it?
Pond covers are also on.

Cheers Mick

Try some filter wool for so long under the sieve stream or nylon stocking this may catch it. You will have to check though for clogging up.

I prefer to treat at this early stage Mick, but as you are thinking of upping salt content, .3% might well knock it back.

As Jimmy suggests need something to catch it in your filter , even if its knocked back.

Good call.
I'm using some fine filter wadding.. Loads for £5.
This is threaded onto thick garden wire and placed in the groove on the blanking plate on my 320.
I'm leaving about half an inch at the bottom so to ensure a flow.. Working OK.. Removing loads of fine algae. (2mins to remove and put a new one on)
I will up the salt level every few days to. 3 as suggested.

Stay safe. Mick

We have Pleco's in our ponds, bottom and walls get grazed all the time. No fines in the water bottom is clean as a whistle. Down side is you cannot go below 15c.

Many years ago I was given 2 small catfish ,they soon grew quite large and would swallow a small 10/15 cm tosai whole.

They were rehomed.
