My chargoi which is around 14inches long has developed a dark spot near its dorsal fin about the size of a two pence piece. It looks like it might be getting darker or it could be my imagination. It’s been there for about a week I think. Hard to get photo. It’s eating and acting perfectly normally. Anyone got any ideas or advice. It was a perfect uniform olive green originally

Thanks

Could be a shimmy.

Is it raised at all?

Things that would be worrying are raised scales, redness, fluffy appearance and uneven surface.

A picture would help further.

I had similar, was told it was pigment changing scale colour as koi got older. Could also be caused by change in water temps I was told. Pete

Wouldn't of thought it would be a shimmy that size although Chags do get them often they seem to come and go. Could it of knocked itself as they do bruise quite easily and the bruising does show as black.

It’s not raised. It looks like a bruise. Hopefully it will fade with time
