As previously stated I am on a water meter and we were paying around £60 a month because of having to top pond up ( drum filter ) and evaporation. Our bill prior to getting the pond put in was around £22 per month. I phoned Yorkshire Water last week and asked if there was anything they could do to lower bill ( not expecting anything ). They explained that for every cubic meter of water you buy they expect 95% to go back into sewer and there is a sewerage charge on that percentage. Because I had a pond it wasn’t 95% that was going back into sewer.
They sent me the easiest form in the world to complete last week which took me no more than 5 mins to complete. I had a phone call today from YW and explained to the chap that I had a drum filter and that did use a certain amount of water which was returned to the sewer. He seemed to know exactly what I was talking about. He punched some numbers , compared my usage pre pond and post pond and to cut a short story shorter he has calculated our return to sewer % at 65% and not standard 95%. Our bill will now be £40 a month instead of £60 !
I expected nothing when I phoned but it just goes to show..... no difficult forms, no inspection, no interrogation, just a really nice chap and a great result all round.

Hi yours is an old post i know but hope u might read this..(long shot but god loves a trier lol)
I've been looking at a drum filter and been told it uses a litre per wash (roughly washes every 20 mins they say) so thats 75 litres of water per day. i calculated that x 356 days and came out out at £80 per year ...
By the sounds of ur problems the dealer is telling me porkies ?? do they use far more than this in ur experience ??
4000 gallon (shortly doubling in size), pressure fed through 2 x yamitsui 55 UV's, to a Kockney Koi KF 20,000 multibay.
