I have seen skimmer guards home made out of some type of plastic basket sort of stuff does anyone know what they are made of and how do i fasten it to the skimmer?

I have used some filter grid , the stuff you find in the bottom of multinational filters
I just cut it with a hacksaw - a nice tight fit and just pushed it in very snugg
it's not expensive neither
Been in two years and not moved - also because of the size I the holes doesn't restrict bits/ flow but stop fish going in
